Presenting the Telecommuting Concept to Your Onsite Employer

You might have a current job that you love, but you've been hoping to find a position like it that you could perform while working in your home office.

Sometimes finding the telecommuting position is as close as the job you're already working. It's a matter of convincing your current employer that the job could be done from your home.

Prepare a presentation and set up a time with the person that would make that decision to explain how the telecommuting process works and why it would be beneficial to the company you're working for.

The most successful presentations are ones that contain the following:

A lot of research

The employer will need to know more than just a few statistics. Tell them how much money they could save and other ways they could benefit.

Start Small

Employers may not be too open to making the whole job a telecommuting position. They might be more willing to allow some parts of the job to be done at home. Focus on some of the parts instead of the whole job. Down the line, after you've proven yourself, they might be willing to look into making it a complete telecommuting position.

Come with a schedule

It's much easier for the employer to see how this idea would work if you come with a proposed schedule. You could tell them that on Mondays and Wednesdays you would come into the office and perform whatever tasks. On the rest of the days, you would do xyz projects from home. Let them know it's a proposed schedule that could be changed, but it's used as an example to give them a clearer picture.

Here's what successful presentations Don't contain:

All about you

While you can tell them that you would perform better by working at home, don't make the whole presentation about you. They will not be interested in knowing that you want to be with your children, need to have more errand running time or that you're tired of paying for the gas. They would want to know what they get out of the situation.

Do-it-or Else Attitude

The presentation is meant to show the employer the benefits of you performing your job from home. You're only proposing the idea to them and trying to sell them on it. It is not a means to say that you'll quit if they don't do what you want. The do-it-or else attitude will only get you to the door with no more job to come to.

Not coming prepared

Your presentation will provoke a lot of questions from your employers. If you've done your research ahead of time, you will have some convincing answers to the questions they throw at you. By not coming prepared, you won't be able to answer many of their questions or give them feasible solutions to their proposed problems. More than likely they would see your presentation as a complete waste of time and deny your request for telecommuting.

Some employers have been sold on the idea of making current onsite jobs into telecommuting ones, but it takes a lot of hard work and thought on your part to make it happen.

Go all out and prepare for the presentation as much as possible. Even if you don't sell them on the idea, you still have shown your ingenuity and willingness to fight for something you believe in. Those are good character traits for moving up the ladder in most companies.

Is Telecommuting - Work from Home - Right for You?

With fuel costs rising and the use of computers, the Internet, and email continuing to increase, more and more people are beginning to consider the option of telecommuting, even if it's only one or two days a week. It may seem like an appealing option, but before you commit to trying your hand at telecommuting, here are a few questions to ask yourself. First, take a realistic look at your job. Does any part of your occupation lend itself to being done from home? Next, take an equally realistic look at your own unique personality and skills. Would you be able to have enough self-discipline to work from home without any outside supervision? Are you able to stay on task and to stay organized well enough to do your work efficiently? Finally, do you have an adequate workspace and the appropriate technology at home to be able to do your job effectively? That generally means a home office space, equipped with all the technology you'll need. If you were honestly able to answer all of these questions yes, both you and your job may be candidates for telecommuting. The next step is to approach your manager with a proposal that would allow you to do a certain amount of your work from home. Since it's a big step and would require rethinking the way your job would be done, it's important that you anticipate, consider, and address every area of concern that your manager might have. Make sure that your proposal focuses on the benefits to your company and not to you. Just because it would be more convenient and less expense to work from home, that doesn't mean your company would see a benefit to having you telecommute. Your proposal must be very specific about the advantages telecommuting would have to the company's bottom line. Here are some suggestions for making your proposal more appealing. Tell your manager than you will be more productive at home, since you'll experience fewer interruptions there than you would in the office. Let your superiors know that you'll make yourself available for all meetings or conference calls via the telephone. To entice your supervisors to give telecommuting a try, offer a trial period to see if it will work in your particular situation. At the end of the trial period, everyone will be able to assess the results and decide if the arrangement has been satisfactory. If it hasn't, at least you were able to try your hand at telecommuting.Telecommuting is becoming increasingly popular, especially as more and more jobs involve the extensive use of computers. With continuing advances in the Internet, email, video cams, and teleconferencing, it's more possible than ever before to do all or most of many jobs from home.If you feel that your job may lend itself to telecommuting, this may be the perfect time to approach your supervisor and explore the possibility of working from home, whether it's on a fulltime or part-time basis. Successful Telecommuting Mom Story Number 1

Do you ever wonder if there are people out there that actually make it in the telecommuting industry? When getting started in this industry it is easy to get frustrated when you are waiting to get your first job. Let's take a look at the work life of one telecommuter who as made it - Paula Williams.

Paula decided to give telecommuting a try back in March of 2005 because she wanted the flexibility to care for her aging parents and to be able to travel at a moments notice. Both of these are important aspects of her every day life and make working in the regular 9-5-office environment impossible. Telecommuting was the perfect solution for her. She is able to work from home and can step out of her office at any time to take care of Mom and Dad. If she decides to pack her bags and travel for a few weeks, she just stops accepting work for that period of time. When she gets back home, she picks up where she left off.

Being able to contribute to the family income is important for Paula. While the money she makes telecommuting isn't the sole household income, it does help to pay the bills and allows her to remain flexible about where and when she works at the same time.

Like many people starting their telecommuting career, Paula didn't find her dream job right away. In fact it took her two months of applying to various telecommuting companies before she landed a job at all. She took it to get a foot in the door, even though it wasn't the job she had hoped for. Nevertheless she worked hard, did her best and quickly moved to a more challenging position with better benefits.

If you are just starting out, it's important to remember that you have to start somewhere. If there's a job out there that you are qualified to do, don't decline and wait for the perfect opportunity. Get your feet wet and get some telecommuting experience on your resume. New doors will open that may just lead to your dream job.

Paula now works 30 - 35 hours in a position that she enjoys. She takes several weeks a year off to travel and gives herself most holidays off. She also spends some time each week to build her own business. This can be a bit of a challenge at times, since she has to decide whether to spend time on her business, which will eventually become another stream of income for her, or to put in more telecommuting hours, which pays her right away.

Paula is a successful at what she does because she the reasons why she wanted to telecommute kept her motivated when she didn't find work at first and then worked in a position she described as "not something I really wanted". Her best advice for someone interested in telecommuting or just starting out is this:

"My advice for potential telecommuters is to open yourself up to multiple opportunities. Apply to several companies, and update your information frequently. Always maintain a professional demeanor in all correspondence, just because the position is from home, doesn't mean it's not a real job.

Finding a telecommuting position isn't likely to happen overnight, but there are many legitimate companies offering reliable positions. Keep at it!"

Paula has built her reputation as a great telecommuter one step and one job at a time. The "secret" to her success is to treat every job as if it was something you really enjoyed. Put time and effort into it, and do a great job. Just like Paula you will start moving up to bigger and better opportunities. She now lives the life she always wanted, working from her home, traveling several times a year and being able to take care of the one's she loves, both financially and time wise. And so can you.

Internet Jobs - How to Work Out of Home

If you are looking to get away from the 9-to-5 grind, one direction you could think about could be internet jobs. People out there are looking for just such a way to work from home and build some flexibility into their lives. This may seem an ideal lifestyle, but this is still work. Most will have the same selection processes that regular jobs comes with, and it's not uncommon for the need of background checks, interviews and training. Here's how some of the ways that people have landed work-at-home jobs.

Applying for an internet job is very similar to applying for a regular job. You only apply for jobs that you know you can do. You take into account the skills you have, your qualifications and what you have been doing with your life to that point. Your experience can easily determine what kind of job you will end up qualifying for.

If you find that the right kind of full-time position doesn't materialize when you start looking for internet work, you can always depend on a couple of part-time appointments in the meantime. You can expect this to happen, so just keep looking on the job websites for the type of position you have in mind, but be flexible and consider part-time employment until your ideal opening becomes available.

In the world of Internet employment, telecommuting jobs has the greatest flexibility. These are direct hire jobs and come with benefits and the whole package. But you need to be flexible though. One package may come with fantastic medical insurance, which could be more valuable than a job that pays more but does not include that benefit.

One requirement that is usually needed is a proper home office before they will let you have the job. The whole interview process is usually conducted entirely by phone.

When looking for internet work, it is easy to lose track of where you have applied. Apply to no more than two or three each day, then get on with the work you do have. To begin with, be prepared to accept work that is lower paying than what you would want. Before long, you will be where you have aimed to be.

How to Successfully Telecommute

Are you an employee who possesses the need to have more time at home? Have you been considering spending some working hours telecommuting? My mother spends some work time as a telecommuter and I have some ideas of my own pertaining to what successful telecommuting entails. You will pick up five tips to make your telecommuting experience successful.

You Must Earn the Privilege to Telecommute

The first thing you must do to become eligible for telecommuting time is to prove you can be counted on. I have read that employees who get to telecommute are those who show they are reliable and responsible. If you have only been at your job for a short period of time and you have not learned every aspect of your position, it would probably be wise to delay asking to telecommute. Once you have mastered your job and you can present a plan to show your boss how you will handle your responsibilities away from the office, seek permission to telecommute.

Flexibility and Maneuverability are Important

You can assist your cause if you are flexible, you have a position that offers plenty of flexibility and you are capable of getting around your region easily. If you choose to telecommute, you will probably have to be available to receive telephone calls or E-mail messages for at least forty to fifty hours a week. You will probably have to possess access to a reliable vehicle in order to quickly travel from home to the office when it is necessary. Part of the reason why my mother is successful at telecommuting is she has her own car, she does not have to work a set schedule and she oversees several senior citizen centers.

Telecommuters Must be Accessible to Many People

To successfully carry out your desire to telecommute, you must make yourself available to almost everyone in your organization, especially if you are in charge of others. My mother has provided her home telephone number and cellular phone number to the administrators and employees who work at the centers that are under her control.

Having the Proper Equipment is Essential

It is okay if you have a cell phone but cell phones often lose reception or power; therefore, it is helpful to have a land line telephone when you must make or take an important call while telecommuting. You will need to have a fax machine if some of the people at the office you serve have a fax machine and prefer to have important paperwork faxed to them. My mother occasionally does work at home on the laptop computer her organization gave her.

Being Able to Work with Company Records is Important

Develop your record keeping, spreadsheet and database skills. My mother updates a database pertaining to her senior citizen centers by using Microsoft Excel.

Follow these tips to be successful at telecommuting!

Telecommuting Resumes

Your resume needs to outline your skills and experience, as most know. What some may not know is that employers want to know what you'll bring to the table. They don't want to know what your daily duties were. They want to know what you did for the companies you worked for that makes you extraordinary. Did you save them money, did you make them money, how were you the best at what you did, etc. Yes, employers want to know what your experience is, so duties are good to add. Again, the name of the game is SELL YOURSELF! This does not lose its importance in a resume.

On your resume, point out the skills that will make you a good telecommuter. Can you work well with no supervision? Do you learn fast? Put that on your resume. If you were left to work with little to no supervision at your last job, let them know that. Also tell them how well you did. If you have telecommuting experience, put a big focus on that. Employers want to know that you can handle telecommuting. There's always a risk involved with hiring someone to work from home, so an employer knowing you've worked at home before will be more at ease with you. They will see you as experienced with telecommuting.

MommysPlace has a Resume and Cover Letter center right here for your convenience, too! It outlines many different types of resumes and cover letter information, and it gives samples. Check it out at the Resume and Cover Letter Center.

Are you taking a second look at your resume now and thinking it could be better? Don't get discouraged if you can't afford to hire someone or buy a product that helps you. It's very possible with a lot of hard work that you can improve your own resume. Here are a few Do's and Don'ts of resumes. Read through these, and look at the resources below before you get started on your resume.

Do's of Resume Writing (Tips for telecommuting resumes):

Write about your skills sets and experience. Know what type of job you're looking for, and target your resume to that. If you're seeking telecommuting careers, then focus your past skills and experience to telecommuting.

List your accomplishments! This is where you need to really shine. Don't be afraid to show how great you are as an employee. They need to know why you're the best for the job. Also, point out any special skills you may have that would put you above the rest of the applicants.

Convey how you can work independently. I know I've said this before but I wanted to point it out again because in the telecommuting world it's the utmost importance!

Side Note---> Heather Eagar (professional resume writer) of Professional Approach says this of conveying how you're independence is key when applying for a telecommuting position:

"Also, as is the case with teleworkers especially, you have to convey AUTONOMY. Since they will be off-site, the company has to feel comfortable that they are able to manage themselves." Heather Eagar of Professional Approach

Dont's of Resume Writing:

Don't leave out your job objective!

Don't list hobbies on a resume unless it can directly relate to your job objective.

Don't have a run-on resume. The preferred length of your resume is no shorter than one page and no longer than two pages.

Telecommuting - The Modern Way to Make a Living

The information superhighway has certainly helped us in a lot of ways. It has made a milestone in the field of the business industry. Because of the internet, there are millions of people nowadays who prefer to work at home rather than going to a regular office day after day.

What a great opportunity this is for people to do their job in the quiet surroundings of their own abode, surrounded by all their home comforts. It sure beats braving the cold and dark winter mornings these days. This is why telecommuting has become such a phenomenon in the computer age.

Think again if you believe that telecommuting is not as stressful or as hard as doing your job from the office. Even though it has become really popular in recent times, telecommuting is also becoming more and more challenging. So, if you are thinking of a life of telecommuting, consider these ideas.

Act professional - The world of telecommuting also requires everyone to have the professionalism expected from those who really work in physical business establishments. Deadlines, reports and estimates still have to be on time and presented in a professional manner.

Show enthusiasm - Take note of this. generally employers will be a little weary of telecommuting as they are not in a position to watch you. They may think that there are too many distractions in the home. Make sure you show extra enthusiasm at when working at home.

Downplay telecommuting aspect - Do not give the impression that telecommuting is the the only reason you applied for the job. You should apply for the job as if you are to be at the office everyday. Bear in mind that telecommuting is an option for the employer rather than the employee.

Be flexible - Be prepared to be more flexible when telecommuting epically when it comes to schedules. Whereas at work, you have a certain set of tasks to complete at by the end of the day, at home you may have to schedule work outside of office hours.

If this is the case, you have to show your employer that you are very flexible and willing to tale on the irregular nature of telecommuting. I may not be the case that you have to work many irregular hours in practise, but it is good practice to show you are willing when needed.

Always remember that telecommuting is not the easiest of tasks. You will have to perform to the same high level that you do when you are at the office - perhaps even more so. But it can be very rewarding to work from the comfort of your own home.

Don't start your CV until you've read this article on CV writing that will impress your employer. Also see Telecoms Jobs in Europe - a Telecoms jobs resource.

Telecommuting - Five Ways to Find Your Next Job

The trend of telecommuting is on the rise as employers begin to see the savings involved in both gas and office space. With gas prices at an all-time high, many Americans are looking for ways to do less driving and more companies than ever before are offering telecommuting options to their current employees and searching for at-home employees to fill open positions. The question for the job seeker is now how to find these opportunities. Below are five methods you can use to find a telecommuting position.

First, check your local newspaper. When I began my search for an at-home career, I found my first employer through the Classified Ads section of our hometown paper. I was wary at first, but after thoroughly researching the company through means such as the Better Business Bureau (BBB), visiting the corporate office and meeting some of their current employees I found the company to be legitimate.

Second, search online using website such as Monster.com and Dice.com. However, listings found online must be researched carefully to avoid the scams that abound on the Internet. There are also websites that will you allow to do job research in your own community. One such website is Craigslist.com on which you can choose a city and then refine your search with keywords such as "telecommute."

Posting your resume on websites such as Hotjobs.com is a third way to locate at work-at-home job. Putting your resume online can bring employers to you, depending on your skills and qualifications. Another bonus of an online resume is that you can easily direct prospective employers to view it. It also makes life a bit simpler when applying for jobs, because you can attach your online resume instead of typing out your job history, qualifications, and so on, each time you apply for a job.

When posting your resume on the web, be sure to create an accurate and impressive representation of your abilities. You don't want to be wordy when describing past job experience, but you do want to be specific about the roles you've held as well as your accomplishments.

A fourth option when looking for at-home employment is to open a phone book and call businesses in your area. For example, if you're interested in doing administrative work, you might contact churches and small businesses in your area to see if they are looking for office help. Even if they are not currently seeking help, they may know of another business owner who is.

Along those same lines, the fifth way to become a telecommuter is to create your own opportunity. For example, instead of finding a company that will hire you as an administrative assistant from home, consider starting your own business as a Virtual Assistant. You can offer your services to many companies, which can both increase your income potential and allow you the flexibility of deciding which jobs you'd like to accept.

You can also create your own telecommuting position by talking with your current employer about work-at-home possibilities. More and more companies are finding that at-home employees are just as productive as those in the office, if not more. Companies also benefit financially by lessening office space and avoiding the costs of many office supplies. Many companies who are not ready to hire at-home workers will allow their current employees to work one or two days from a home office, so be sure to discuss this option.

The telecommuting field has become highly competitive as more and more people find that working from home is a possibility. Searching for a telecommuting position can be daunting, but by looking in strategic places such as online and in your local newspaper, you'll have a much better chance. No matter, how you find your telecommuting position, make sure it's something you would enjoy doing and also something you can make money at.

Millions of people worldwide are enticed by the opportunity to work at home. A job from home allows individuals considerably more flexibility, extra time with family and generally alleviates the immense stress which may result from an active career. At home jobs are also desirable for individuals who wish to make an extra income in addition to their day job, college students, disabled persons, at home mothers and senior citizens.

There are hundreds of companies which promote 'get rich quick schemes' or 'guaranteed' opportunities to make a living from home. The FTC has already charged several individuals involved in managing and promoting fraudulent work at home opportunities. "The dream of owning a business is as American as apple pie, but business opportunity scammers spoil the recipe for success," said FTC Chairman Deborah Platt Majoras. According to the Better Business Bureau, consumers may lose amounts ranging from $10 up to $70,000 or more in their search to make money from home. Fortunately, there are actually legitimate money making opportunities available on the internet. A large number of individuals actually do earn a good living on the internet. Working From Home - Preparing For the Job Interview

We all go through the common nervousness associated with a job interview but an interview for a telecommuting job, holds to a higher plane and needs as much preparation it can afford. With that being said, you can't predict what questions the interviewer will ask, but you can be prepared. Here are a few tips:

Be ready.

This may seem standard; however, if it's important to make sure when the interviewer calls, you're prompt, and your background is quiet. Make sure that you don't speak too softly or too fast as the interviewer will probably be taking down notes. Also, be prepared to cover job descriptions from your resume and be sure to note how the experience relates to the position

you are applying for.

Be confident in answering questions.

You'll be asked questions like "Why do you want to work from home?" "Why do you feel you are qualified for the position?" Examples of instances from past jobs relating to customer interactions and responses. For each of your answers, be professional. Do not mention the need for a job, wanting to work home to be closer to family, or anything that does not involve your position. You want the interviewer to control the call, while being completely focused on your skills. The attitude you want to convey throughout the call, is the fact that you can get the job done and do it better than anyone else. If that type of confidence is not heard within your voice, there's a chance you've let a great career slip through the cracks. Don't let this happen.

Make sure to ask the interviewer questions.

Having prior knowledge of the job and company is key to impressing the interviewer. Make them aware that you know your stuff and ask questions related to your position using your knowledge. For example, if you read in a press release that ABC Company just released their work home program in Jan of 08, you can use this information as a base to form your questions. Your question can go something like, "I was reading in a press release about the work home program implemented in Jan of 08. I'm curious to find out about the time frame for advancement while working from home." This lets the interviewer know that you understand the job, and the company; while hinting your interest staying within the company long-term.

It's perfectly normal to be nervous. But as long as you are qualified for the position and prepared to answer questions relating to your experience, you have nothing to worry about. The key to selling yourself is confidence, confidence and more confidence. So research, prepare your environment, and stay positive and you next call about the job will be the one stating that you're hired.

Sell Telecommuting to Your Manager

If you've decided that the long commute to work is no longer for you but you're not sure how you're going to pay your bills without your job, don't despair. There's a chance you can keep your job and work from home as well. The solution is telecommuting and it is a choice that many companies are accepting as a way to keep employees, improve business, and support green living by helping to cut down on the number of long distance commuters whose cars affect our air quality.

Your first and most important challenge will be to identify whether or not your job can be done from home. Thanks to technology many jobs that involve the handling of sensitive or confidential data can now be conducted safely outside company walls without concern or worry that the data will be compromised. Many firms allow data entry operators, customer service representatives, claims adjudicators and others to handle confidential information about clients from their home computers because the appropriate security measures are part of the information technology system.

If you have a job that you can complete effectively outside of the physical walls of your company office, then you really can consider telecommuting. Your most important challenge will be to explain and "demonstrate" to your employer how you will be able to complete your job while meeting or exceeding current performance expectations.

You'll want to prepare a proposal that illustrates the advantages of your telecommuting position. I'd suggest you set up a matrix that lists each task associated with your job showing clearly how that task is done now, how it will be done from your home office, and the advantage for the company in having you work from home.

To illustrate what I mean, let's say you're a marketing specialist and one of your jobs is to develop sponsorship programs for company events. One of your tasks will be to secure sponsors. You'll want to indicate how currently you fulfill that task in the office through prospect list development, letters and follow up calls. The tasks you do at home from your home office will likely be the same; however, the advantages from working at home might be the selling point for your boss. You'll want to highlight on your matrix that the advantage of working at home is that you will not have the office interruptions you currently have. This will translate into more productive work time and ultimately a more successful sponsorship recruitment program.

It will be up to you if you want to quantify your proposal by estimating increases in productivity or business outcomes as part of the "work at home advantages" you want to demonstrate for your employer. I recommend it if at all possible because actual improved measurable outcomes is likely how your manager will have to sell your telecommuting proposal to the owner or upper management in your company.

It's within your power to achieve your telecommuting dream. Think about what you do at work and how you can improve your outcome by working at home. Communicate that effectively to your boss using a visually appealing matrix and you might be one step closer to your dream.

Telecommuting Benefits

Telecommuting refers to working from home or a location of one's choice using latest technology tools like mobile, phone and internet. This is a method highly suitable for home office location, virtual teams and jobs that can be done without any physical co-location. This is highly preferred for people with constraints on travel due to location proximity, costs, and personal situation like health, managing family, and kids. This approach provides flexibility to employees and small business owners to perform business activity without coming to office physically. The workers who use this facility are called telecommuters, no mad commuters or web commuters.

The telecommuting is to set to increase 33% for technology jobs and 65% for public sector jobs. Occasional telecommuters accounted to 17.8 million.

How it works?

This varies across companies and industries. This is more prominent in technology and communications industries where IT systems and technology can enable people to work remotely without any physical presence. Also it is a policy within the organization to allow or disallow telecommuting. This requires extensive trust on people and managing them with clear goals and measurements. Many organizations find it challenging to implement especially larger groups which require constant interactions over face to face. The organizations which encourage telecommuting are more open and flexible in nature. Their policies are usually employee centric and create a sense of ownership by offering flexibility on telecommuting. There is no fixed mechanism of defining a telecommuting policy as it has varied adoption across industries.

It operates on the following ways:

Clearly defining goals and measurements among manager and employee.
Identify and carve out work that reduces dependency of physical access among employees, like standalone contribution.
Develop trust and virtual team work among team members to operate with each other in a seamless fashion.
Constant feedback and discussion with the virtual team member on measurements of the objectives.
Creative team interaction approach (like tele presence, video conference) to make them feel like to be part of the team.

Key advantages:

Offers flexibility to employees to choose where they need to work from and deliver the business results.
Drives employee satisfaction on the needed hour like managing family, kids, disabilities and commuting long distances every day.
Instills ownership and motivation through virtual team working model.
Saves physical facility cost per employee for the organization. The savings are up to $20,000 per year per employee.
Reduces attrition and staff turnover rate due to re-location reasons.
Saves environment by lesser traffic, energy saving at work and green house emissions
Potential saving of $650 billion overall if 40% of compatible jobs adopt to telecommuting approach
This is proven to be one of the best models for operating virtual teams across geographies.
Highly suited for home based businesses like network and multi level marketing methods.

In summary, telecommuting is one of the best ways of working in a virtual team to accomplish business objectives. It is considered as a modern way of working among knowledge workers. The adoption rates vary between organization and industries. It requires maturity and understanding from employee and manager to work in a manner which drives results.

The Future Of Work At Home Jobs

Work at Home Scams are Everywhere, "The Future Of Work At Home Jobs"

If you are interested in working from home but haven't found anything profitable out there, you are in luck. If you are tired of throwing away your hard earned money on promises that turn out to be work at home scams, we have a solution. The work at home scam industry has been very profitable for certain types of entrepreneurs. By law a work at home scam is selling a program that either doesn't exist or a business that doesn't sell an actual product or service. In reality, a work at home scam is very different.

A legal work at home scam is paying for a useless packet of information based on a marketing technique like a letter or a website. Your cash is exchanged for a program that is nearly impossible to find any practical application for, although you were promised the world. I use the words legal work at home scam because the individuals promising the world and selling the information are well aware that most people will find the information they are providing to be useless and unattainable. Their goal is not to provide you with valuable information to help you achieve your work at home dreams, rather they are looking to make a sale and pocket the profits and what you do doesn't concern them. "The Future Of Work At Home Jobs"

Telecommuting has nearly tripled in popularity over the last five to ten years. The home based business industry has become one of the most lucrative businesses available, and if you are one of the fortunate few, you can not only enjoy the freedom of working at home but typically become more profitable doing it than any regular job can allow.

The next generation jobs, "The Future Of Work At Home Jobs"

Jobs are a basic of life. We all know from the time we are very young that we are expected to grow up and go get a job someday. Most of us grew up in the generation that worked for the same company from the time they were young until they retired. This phenomenon is really quite unheard of today. Companies are quick to outsource, downsize, and cut the closest penny anywhere they can. While many employees have loyalty to their employer, the same company will have no loyalty to an employee.

"The Future Of Work At Home Jobs" world over employers are quick to cut the faithful employee if he or she shows signs of failing health or can simply be replaced by someone younger who will willingly work for less money. The shifting trend in today's business has led to more people seeking work at home positions than ever before. Telecommuting provides flexibility and comes with silent benefits that are often worth the risk.

People that telecommute are not required to use their cars daily, so not only do they save in fuel consumption, but the wear and tear of commuting to work disappears and maintenance costs plummet and the vehicles last longer.

People land work at home positions typically find that they experience more job satisfaction. People who need to commute to work find they get little recognition for the quality of the job they perform and rarely report receiving a compliment but find themselves critically and harshly condemned for taking a day off. Work a day individuals are far from in control of their income and can not determine for themselves when and how often they are worthy of a raise. This the "The Future Of Work At Home Jobs"

People who are able to telecommute for a specific company generally do not have control of their income. People who find telecommuting positions that are of a freelance nature have more control over their income. They are able to determine if they want to work harder in order to bring in more money and negotiate better rates for more difficult projects. Freelance telecommuting positions are not all that difficult to come by if you have an in demand and unique skill.

Freelance Telecommuting Positions, "The Future Of Work At Home Jobs"

Freelance telecommuting positions are not a typical form of employment. Freelance telecommuting positions are based on the idea of piece meal income. You may find yourself with several projects one week and only one or two the following week. The income available From a week to week basis in a freelance telecommuting position is bound to vary greatly. People who need a steady, predictable income in order to feel secure typically do not so well in a freelance telecommuting position.

One of the most popular freelance telecommuting positions is graphic design. Whether your specialty is web based design or business design, graphic designers are able to break out on their own and even if they have marginal talent, they can land enough work to produce a reasonable income to pay the bills. A really good graphic designer has unlimited income potential.

Companies are willing to pay often astronomical amounts of money for quality web based graphic design. Web based graphic design is becoming more of a necessity in modern business. Web based graphic design can so severely influence a company's web success or failure that companies will ultimately leave a large budget for their web based graphic design.

"The Future Of Work At Home Jobs" Web based graphic design is a wide open market for freelance telecommuting positions. With the power of the internet, a designer can ultimately reach clientele across oceans and continents. Once upon a time it was necessary for the freelance telecommuting graphic designer to rent office space and meet regularly with clients. In modern business, it is now possible for a web based graphic designer to send a potential client their samples and quotes from anywhere in the world, complete the work, and then receive remuneration from their client without ever meeting them.

Sales has become a growing freelance telecommunications position, which many people find surprising. Freelance telecommunication position that hire salespeople pay on a commission only structure. While many brick and mortar sales companies hire on a commission only basis, there are many that will include either a salary or draw with their commission structure so their employees have a chance to learn the business well. The sales industry is now acknowledging the benefits of hiring freelance telecommuters. While the company saves money by refusing a salary to their telecommuters, they also save in the costs of health insurance, office space and equipment.

Anyone willing to put in the effort can have a lucrative telecommuting position if they choose sales. On the positive end of finding a telecommuting position in sales, there are remarkably few work at home scams that deal with sales positions. Almost any company hiring telecommuters for a work at home sales position is going to be legitimate. Most work at home scams operate on the principle of selling information and being completely finished with the individual that bought the product. A person being hired for a sales position never needs to produce any form of payment before starting work for the company. Work at home scams target individuals wanting to start their own web based business but have no product, skill, or experience in we marketing.

Basic Telecommuting Issues "The Future Of Work At Home Jobs"

Freelance telecommuting can be a wonderful lifestyle to experience for those who do not require much structure in order to be productive. There is wonderful trade off of time freedom as long as too much time freedom doesn't become irresponsibility. It can be an intricate tightrope to walk, but most freelance telecommuters accomplish this goal without too much adjustment within their first four to six weeks.

Before accepting any type of freelance telecommuting position it's always a good idea to make sure there's a little extra cash set aside before leaving a steady paycheck, even after there is enough work lined up to keep a person busy for weeks. Online payment systems are not instantaneous and it can actually take up to two weeks before the money paid to an individual for work received actually makes into the freelancer's bank account.

Self discipline combined with flexibility is an absolute must for any freelance telecommuter. There will be distractions no matter how well a freelancer sets up their private work space. Very few individuals who work outside the home can make the mental leap the just because a freelancer is home doesn't mean that they have all the time in the world to do whatever they want. If a freelancer does not set good boundaries as well as learn to work outside of a set of scheduled hours, they may very well find themselves overwhelmed with day time favors, inadequate work space, and friends who want to call seven times a day just to chat. This can also happen with a spouse.

Telecommuting company standards have since changed, due in part to the constant betterment of technology. By being a telecommuting company, the company that claims this title, telecommuting company, is informing everyone that they allow their employees to work from home by using the computer, fax machine, and telephone. This follows most standards set by other telecommuting company groups that chose the same way of running their companies.

If you are currently searching for a telecommuting company, one of the most preferred ways of finding them is by using a dependable search engine online, and typing in the key words, "telecommuting company". Telecommuting Employment - Increase Your Chances of Being Hired

The sheer number of people seeking telecommuting employment these days is staggering, and that means if you are serious about wanting to work from home, you really must have an edge to help you rise above the crowd and increase your chances of being hired. This article will share three important qualities that telecommuting employers look for in potential employees.

Quality #1 - Professionalism

Everything about you from your first contact with the telecommuting employer MUST scream "professionalism". I stress this all the time to people but I think many people don't know exactly what I mean. When I say "professionalism" I mean portraying yourself as someone who is mature, responsible, dependable, businesslike and experienced. Even if you don't have experience with the specific position you are applying for, you should still have some real world experience with working in a professional setting. (Unless the job states that no experience is necessary; but you should still come across as mature and dependable.)

Make sure your resume and cover letter are in tip top shape! Make sure you use correct spelling and grammar; make sure your cover letter is brief and to the point, and make sure your resume accurately highlights your strongest skills and "sells you" to the employer. You don't want to lie on your resume, but there are ways to word your skills and experience that make them seem much more attractive. I go into that in my telecommuting guide in more detail, but in general be sure to read over your resume and cover letter with a critical eye. What would a telecommuting employer be thinking as he/she reads your application? Would a few questions pop up? If so, be sure to answer those questions satisfactorily.

Quality #2 - Enthusiasm, But Not Desperation

Eagerness and enthusiasm are other qualities telecommuting employers look for in their candidates, but if you're not careful this can easily tip the scales into desperation. Whatever you do, you DON'T want to ramble on and on about why you NEED to work at home, how badly you need this job, or launch into the endless reasons why you need this job. It may sound harsh, but telecommuting employers don't care what you need; they care only about what YOU can do for THEM.

To that end, you want to be sure to act confident in your own skills and experience and be clear about what you have to offer the company, while also being enthusiastic about the opportunity. It can be a delicate balancing act for sure, but it's important to portray yourself in the right light to increase your chances of being hired.

Quality #3 - Can-Do Attitude

Equally important as professionalism and enthusiasm is a "can-do" attitude. What that means is demonstrating your willingness to be flexible and dedicated to the company, and you start demonstrating that from your very first contact - with your resume and cover letter. One of the ways you can do this is by being flexible with the hours and salary you prefer. Likewise with the duties the job entails, and your eagerness to take on new challenges and learn new skills. It's okay to state your preferences, but you also want to make it clear that you are flexible and willing to negotiate.

Let me tell you a little secret: many telecommuting employers will train you if they suspect you are the right kind of person for their team - even if their ad specifies experience is needed and you do not have that experience. This depends on the company and the job you are applying for, of course. Some positions really do require experience. But in a general sense, if you have the right attitude and demeanor, many employers will invest their time and energy into teaching you what you need to know to do the job right.

In other words, an employer is more likely to hire the "right" kind of person who may not have the right skills, rather than hiring the "wrong" kind of person, even if they have all the skills and experience in the world! As you may have heard in numerous other contexts, attitude is everything. If you show the employer that you are ready and willing to jump in and become a valuable asset to the company, you have overcome one major hurdle to successful employment.

Would you like to learn more about the ins and outs of working from home? Telecommuting is fast becoming one of the hottest career choices today. People everywhere are escaping the rat race and enjoying the true freedom and flexibility that telecommuting can provide. Work From Home Job Telecommuting

As the cost of living gets higher and higher, the need to supplement one's income becomes apparent. Many people do not, however, know that with a computer and faster internet connection, it is possible to work from home. It allows you to make that extra cash and boost your budget without hassles. There are as many jobs that one can do at home as there are people looking for them. However, unlike the regular outsourcing jobs one normally finds online, there are other upcoming jobs that are still relatively unknown but pay quite well. The advantage of these jobs is the ease with which one can do them. Telecommuting is one such arrangement that allows you to work from home.

Telecommuting refers to an arrangement in which an employee in a company does their job outside the office; probably from home or any other suitable location as they may find fit. It could be in the library, your favorite coffee shop, park or in your garage; whichever locations you like. Thus, instead of going to the office daily, the employee is linked to the main office or company via telecommunication links that ensure he works in tandem with his colleagues in the company. The links could be a telephone, email or any other methods of regular communication. However, one may, on some occasions, visit the office for functions that require physical presence. Even so, the other needs that previously necessitated physical presence have been largely replaced by the advent of videoconferencing. Therefore, a telecommuter can as well just attend a meeting from home. Telecommuting work from home job is advantageous in its flexibility and freedom. It allows you lots of freedom in terms of work hours and work location and doing other business or job is still possible. In addition, the pay is quite good given the fact that you work like any other normal employee, except you do not sit in an office.

Further more; telecommuting work from home job is perfect for days when your presence in the home is needed. For instance, during bad weather, your presence in the home can be needed, or when a delivery of goods such as furniture is to be made, or a doctors appointment. Even so, it is important to note that this job can be challenging because, one runs the risk of mixing up personal life and work. However, with great practice and patience, telecommuting can become a fruitful venture and fun at the same time. As long as management of employees is done well and communications lines are kept open, the results are bound to be good. Managers often prefer telecommuting employees if they can give optimum results.

Tips on Finding Legitimate Online Data Entry Jobs

Online data entry jobs offer individuals who need to stay at home a great opportunity to earn extra income. This kind of telecommuting job is ideal for moms, students, disabled individuals, as well as those who just plainly want to work at home. The amount of workload and working hours are very flexible, which means that you have the power to choose the projects you want to take on. In addition to that, you can work on your own pace and during your most convenient time. Data-entry tasks are fairly simple so even those who do not have experience are encouraged to apply.

To ensure that you will find a legitimate data-entry job online, you have to take note of the following tips:

· Be extra careful with your job search - It is important that you stay vigilant when looking for data-entry jobs online. It is important that you know how to distinguish scam sites so you can avoid them. Normally, scam sites offer an atrocious pay that seems too good to be true. Job Telecommuting - Cutting Out The Commuting

Telecommuting is the term used for people who work from home. Telecommuting means not having to commute or 'work from a distance'. -commuting, e-work, telework, or working from home are other names this form of employment is known by. The term 'telecommuting' was coined when people who work from home realized the advantage of not having to commute to and from a place of work. This form of work saved a lot on time and money because the daily commute to a central place of work is replaced by telecommunication links. Job telecommuting is fast catching on with many people establishing job telecommuting from home rather than having to travel a few hours a day to and from home.

Job telecommuting, in a broader term refers to substituting telecommunications for any form of work-related travel, as such doing away with the distance restrictions of telecommuting. All job telecommuting workers can be called teleworkers but not all teleworkers are telecommuters. It is said that "work is something you do, not something you travel to". A good telecommuting program requires a management style based on results rather than on close scrutiny of individual employees. This managing by objective brings forth better productivity as opposed to managing by observation.

The advent and advancement of virtual private networks is what has spurned the job telecommuting scenario the world over. Technologies such as video conferencing, voice over internet protocol and online software development are all contributing to more and more people opting for job telecommuting rather than taking up regular 9 - 5 jobs. Job telecommuting is ideal for house wives who want to put in a few hours of work and earn a little extra for those unexpected bills and maybe a few frills they would like to enjoy. For job telecommuting all one needs to have is the basic computer skills, a PC and an Internet connection at home. Broadband Internet is ideal as job telecommuting sometimes requires video conferencing as well as voice chatting. A slow Internet connection will not facilitate this kind of work.

Technology advancements in the early 1970's set the foundation for job telecommuting. This technology used telephone lines as a network bridge to link satellite offices through downtown mainframes and dumb terminals. A lot has changed since then. Discarding the old technology, the Internet has taken over in a very big way. In fact, almost every form of international communications has something or the other to do with the Internet. One of the benefits of the Internet in Job telecommuting is the decrease in the cost of operations. This massive decrease in the cost and increase in the efficiency of the personal computer has forged the road to decentralize the office work and has helped move the office to the home. Technological advancements enabled job telecommuting a household word by the early 1980's and that was just the start. As technology advanced local area networks were just about ideal for sharing of resources over long distances. These networks gave birth to client server networks which led to greater decentralization of work. Today the PC has been replaced by a Laptop, which makes job telecommuting an even greater attraction as tele-workers can now work from just about anywhere through their laptops and wireless networks.

Would You Pay to Telecommute?

How much is telecommuting worth to you? People have all sorts of reasons to want to telecommute, money being just one of them. So when you're job hunting, and you find a job that allows telecommuting, factor the cost and other savings of this benefit into the salary and overall compensation package being offered. It might just sway your decision on how good that offer looks!

Many people rate telecommuting as an important benefit in their jobs. And so they should. Telecommuting saves you the time you'd otherwise spend on the road and the cost of gas for the commute (which is getting more and more expensive) - and those are just the two most tangible benefits. The long list is, well... long.

I realize this is not news to most people. Yet somehow, people forget to factor these items in when making decisions on what job to choose. Let's take an example. Say you have two job offers. Both look equally as interesting and rewarding and they offer similar salaries. But the one with the slightly lower salary will let you telecommute four days/week. What does that do for your family budget's bottom line?

First there's the actual cost savings:

Gas: $40/week. Let's say you live 30 miles from the job and your car gets 25 miles to the gallon. That's nearly 10 gallons per week you're saving - at the current $4/gallon rates.

Clothing: $20/week. Consider the savings on your office wardrobe and dry-cleaning bills. Now that you're only dressing in corporate garb once/week, how much will you save?

Food: $40/week. Grabbing something from your fridge at home may cost you a couple dollars for lunch, compared to the $10%2B the cafeteria charges. And those fancy coffee drinks at $4 or more each don't compare to the pennies it costs to make a coffee at home. Let's say you save at least $10 on the days you don't go in.

That's $100/week right there. In the average working year you're looking at close to $5,000.

There are also significant time savings:

Commute: 4 hours/week: You can probably save 1 hour each day just by avoiding the commute.

Increased work effectiveness: 2 hours/week. How much time do you waste at work from gossiping coworkers and idle chit-chat. Believe it or not you probably can save at least 1/2 hour per day just from avoiding that (and that's a conservative estimate).

Then there are the less tangible benefits:

Avoiding the high-fat, -sodium and -sugar content of the cafeteria food as well as the candies on your co-worker's desk is better for both your waistline and your arteries.
Avoiding the stress that comes with fighting heavy traffic to and from work in rush hour improves your physical and mental health, as well as your relationships with your family members.
Use the time you're saving to finally start up that exercise routine you've been meaning to do. A regular exercise program will reduce stress, improve relationships, reduce your medical expenses, increase your longevity, and make you look and feel better!
Working from home gives you the flexibility to fit in an appointment, have the occasional breakfast with your kids or attend their ballet recitals.
Taking a car off the road 4 out of every 5 workdays does so much more for the environment than putting in a couple fluorescent light-bulbs in your house!
Avoiding public germ-ridden offices reduces your frequency of colds and other illnesses.

So remember those 2 jobs in the example? Suddenly the telecommuting one increases your relative salary by $5K after taxes (what's that to you pre-tax?), reduces your workweek by 6 hours, and includes all the other benefits above.

Now which job are you going to choose?

How to Prepare a Telecommute Proposal

Telecommuting has become a popular and cost efficient method of conducting work. Both employer and employee can benefit from telecommuting, though many employers still have reservations about allowing employees to work from home. In preparing a proposal to telecommute, the following questions must be addressed:

Is your position conducive to telecommuting?

Not all types of employment allow for a person to work from his or her home. A person who must speak with customers face-to-face is ill-advised to attempt to do so from home. If there are facets of your position that are telecommute-friendly and you would like to attempt telecommuting part-time, you should explain that thoroughly. If your position is one that you could carry out solely from home, you must explain each aspect of your position and exactly how you would go about telecommuting effectively.

Will you be requesting to telecommute on a short-term or permanent basis? How many days each week will you telecommute?

In your telecommuting proposal, you should outline the exact days and hours you wish to work from home. If you are requesting a short-term telecommuting opportunity, you should also explain, in detail, the length of your proposed telecommuting venture. You should also suggest a trial period in order for your employer to assess the quality and expediency of your work in your new environment. If you are able, you could also offer to work extended hours. Because you would be working from home, you may be able to offer early morning, late evening, or weekend hours, which could be of great advantage to your employer.

Can you prove to your boss that you are able to work from home?

What type of working environment do you have in your house? Do you have a private area that can be used as an office that is free from household distractions and noise? If so, your employer should know about this. You should also be willing to accept a second phone line dedicated to your home office and may even suggest accepting some office costs in order to work from home. You should also consider your work record; include any past performance reviews, peer reviews, or even any emails or notes you have received over the years, praising your work. An employer is much more likely to trust an employee who has a proven history.

What does the employer have to gain?

Some environments may have very limited office space, and removing an employee to his or her home can be of great service when this is an issue. The employer can see a cost benefit to telecommuting as well. Working from home allows a person to work even when sick or when a sick child is in the home, days that would normally be used as personal days to in-office workers. There is also the matter of retention: a happily employed, telecommuting worker is unlikely to seek work elsewhere.

What does the employer have to lose?

Employers who opt out of allowing their employees to telecommute do so when they are unable to see how telecommuting would be of benefit to them. If all of the above questions are answered effectively and thoroughly in the proposal, the employer's mind should be set at ease. Your employer may also question whether or not you are able to carry out your job duties without constant supervision, which is why it is necessary to offer a trial period.

Once you have answered all of these questions and have committed them to paper, you should also be well prepared to discuss the proposal with your employer. You should be prepared to answer any questions he or she may have, and you should be gracious with the response you receive, whether it is positive or negative. Not all employers are ready for telework, but even if your current employer denies your proposal, you'll have the experience of creating a telecommute proposal that may be helpful in your next job.

Online Data Entry Jobs and What to Expect

Home data entry and telecommuting jobs can be a great source of extra income for many and provide the freedom for one to set their own hours. But ones attraction to the idea has often clouded their sense of judgment when it comes to reality. Unfortunately, it is unlikely for one to get rich just by doing simple clerical work. The competition alone is enough to keep the pay down low. Even for an experienced player, it can be difficult to land a data entry job that pays well enough to be worth one's time.

Another issue is finding a legitimate company to work for amongst all the common scams. A job seeker should always plan ahead and do their research before embarking on any type of work from home endeavor. Especially ones that charge a fee. There are legitimate companies that charge a fee for ones training, however, the illegitimate companies also use this practice as well to make a quick buck.

A person applying for a work from home job in data entry sometimes is not aware that such a position requires specific skills, training, excellent grammar, education and experience. They also have to know that this is not a quick and easy way to make some fast cash. These jobs expect professional applicants that know how to write grammatical sentences, that can type fast with high accuracy and excellent spelling. This applicant is expected to be well organized and know how and when to use reference materials such as a dictionary and thesaurus. He or she is also expected to complete their assignments in a timely fashion.

A professional should have all the essentials to properly prepare his or her work which includes a fax, phone and printer and a filing system. They will also be expected to have some record keeping skills. The bottom line is no one will get rich quick doing this type of data entry work and it is a highly demanding field which I think many people do not realize. They just think they are going to have to type a few documents a day and get paid a large fee. Unfortunately that is not how it works.

On the other hand, thanks to the internet and recent technology there are several other types of data entry jobs available for the average person which does not require any of the experience as stated above. With the new data entry almost anyone can apply and there is no waiting time. One can make several hundred dollars per week and there are no deadlines to meet and no experience needed.
